Nice talk...No walk...

I happen to watch the speech of our imperial leader on the television last night. The speech was well memorized, the lighting was dramatic and the words were intended to inspire all. There were a lot of things he promised to the hurricane ravaged people of the south, some of it even sounded kind of good.
It’s just a shame, that those people will not see most of it. He wants all these sweeping changes and help for these people, which I agree is what’s needed, but how are we to pay for it? Our fiscal backs are against the wall.
He isn’t calling for any rollbacks on his tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans, or even cutting back on his Iraqi conquest. So I have to ask, with the country in such a huge debt, (so much so we’re borrowing money from at least five major countries—Saudi Arabia being one of them), where will this money magically come from?
The words he spoke were nothing but nice talk to bolster his sagging approval numbers and make him appear somewhat human. There is no rational way to implement them without generating a lot of money somehow. But once again, why focus on the realities when you can spout some nice platitudes and placate the people over the airways? Bush would rather sacrifice the working class and the poor than to take away a dime to his rich constituents. It’s not like I don’t wish our government would actually help, but how many broken promises do we have to believe in before we wise up?

So true. This time, the fact that the President is lying is obvious. Even though it's causing hundreds of lives to suffer, I can't help but think this is the one way our country will finally realize our president's screwed us up badly.
